Bare Knees Publishing was founded in 2021, and it is embedded in the communities and neighborhoods of Los Angeles, where Mischa Martin, its founder, lived and taught for half her life.  Its mission is to bring the voices and visions of young writers, artists, creators and thinkers to the attention of the general public. 

EVERY PROJECT PUTS A PERCENTAGE OF ANY PROFITS IT MAKES BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY TO ENCOURAGE GRASSROOTS CREATIVITY AND TO FURTHER THE DEMOCRATIZATION OF ACCESS TO BOTH THE MEANS TO AND THE REWARDS OF CREATIVE WORK.
